Volume controlling app

EarTrumpet is a utility software to help users better manage the controls of their computer’s volume. Made for Windows 10 operating system, this is a volume control app that works as a replacement to the default audio management system of your desktop. It allows you to modify the volume of all the apps running on your computer. With it, you can increase and decrease the volume of your apps separately.

How do you use EarTrumpet?

The app is a Windows Store download and installing it on your device will be easy. It blends into Windows 10, providing you with a native touch experience. Once installed, it will run in the system tray. Note, however, that the app uses the same icon as the default Windows 10 volume controller. You will have to hover your mouse over the icons until you the name of the app shows.

Once launched, you can see all the app that uses audio output. If you are currently streaming music on Spotify, you can see little indicators that show what’s coming out of the left and right mix. EarTrumpet uses icons to separate each of the apps that it recognizes. You can then adjust the volume for each app accordingly. More than adjusting the volume, you can also reassign an app to another audio output.

Right-click on the app icon and a button that looks like two arrows facing a different direction will appear. Choose from the dropdown option your preferred audio output. Note that this only works well with streaming apps. When used on others, such as Steam games, it will prove to be a bit disappointing. Also, there are times when you need to restart the app for the new preference to take effect.

What are the benefits of using EarTrumpet?

As noted, EarTrumpet is an enhanced version of your default volume controller. However, while it is the case, it will not totally replace the default app. Instead, it will only use another space in your system tray. It is better if it integrates into the Windows volume control, particularly if you have a dozen monitoring tool in your tray already.

However, while it is an addition to your growing system tray, it is a convenient tool to have. The utility enables you to specify which app will have the loudest volume and which one to mute. The function can come in handy if you are listening to music and do not want your messaging app to interrupt your music.

Users will also find no need for adjustment in using the app since it looks simple and intuitive. There is nothing much to configure in the app, and the features are focused only on the essentials. With this, various options will not clutter the interface. More, it neatly organizes all the apps using its icons, so you would not have a hard time looking for a particular app to tweak.

Is the app worth downloading?

All in all, EarTrumpet is an app that you would like to become a native Windows 10 app. The software resolves the lack of per-app volume controls, which is something that most users would appreciate. More, doing so does not need any significant knowledge since the app comes with a straightforward and familiar UI.
